
The 25th Border Districts Coordination Meeting between the Royal Government of Bhutan and the State Government of West Bengal, India was held on the 28th September 2022 at Hotel Druk, Phuentsholing, Bhutan.
The meeting’s main goal was to find common ground on issues such as cross-border facilitation of lawful movement of people via pedestrian terminal facilities, traffic management, smuggling of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, alcohol, environmental pollution, curbing illegal activities, and removing physical barriers to cross-border trade, commerce, and transit, among others

BDCM was incepted in the year 1991 and since then there has been a 24th round of meetings, the last one held in 2019. The Border Districts Coordination Meeting (BDCM) is the second tier level of engagement and it is conducted annually with the State Governments of Assam, West Bengal and the Royal Government of Bhutan.
The meeting was led by Tashi Penjore (Leader of Delegation from Bhutan), Director, Department of Law and Order, Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs, Royal Government of Bhutan and A.R. Bardhan, IAS (Leader of Delegation from West Bengal, India) Commissioner, Jalpaiguri Division, West Bengal.

Attended by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MoHCA, Dzongdags / Dungpas from Royal Government of Bhutan. Officials from Embassy of India, Government of India, SSB Officials. Superintendent of Police, Senior Police officials, District Magistrates, Senior Bureaucrats from Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, and Kalimpong districts also attended the meeting that was held at Hotel Druk, Phuentsholing, Bhutan on September 28th, 2022.
The meeting was successful in reaching common solutions and outcomes to tackle issues for mutual benefit for people living along the border areas. The meeting was concluded after the exchange of gifts.
