Imphal, February 9, 2025 – In a chilling display of defiance against law enforcement, armed gunmen stormed an India Reserve Battalion (IRB) outpost in Manipur’s Thoubal district, looting a significant cache of weapons and ammunition. The daring late-night raid on Saturday has raised pressing concerns over security vulnerabilities in the conflict-ridden state.
Officials confirmed that a group of unidentified assailants, arriving in multiple vehicles, executed a swift and coordinated attack on the outpost located in the Kakmayai area. The attackers overwhelmed the personnel on duty and seized at least six Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs), three AK-series rifles, and approximately 270 rounds of ammunition along with 12 magazines before disappearing into the night.
