Shiv Sena (UBT) Calls for ‘Trump-Style’ Deportation of Rohingyas, Bangladeshis, and Sheikh Hasina
Jammu, Feb 7 – Shiv Sena (UBT) has urged the Indian government to adopt a tough stance on illegal immigration by implementing a “Trump-style” deportation policy. The party is demanding the immediate expulsion of Rohingyas, Bangladeshis, and even former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is currently in exile in India.
On Friday, a protest led by Shiv Sena’s Jammu and Kashmir unit chief Manish Sahni took place in Jammu, where demonstrators carried placards with slogans like “Send Back Sheikh Hasina, Seema Haider” and “Deport Illegal Rohingyas, Bangladeshis.” The party claims that illegal immigration is a serious threat to India’s national security and is urging the government to act swiftly.
During the protest, Sahni stressed the need for India to follow former U.S. President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. He pointed out that Trump had taken strict measures to deport illegal immigrants and argued that India should do the same.
“The Government of India must take inspiration from the Trump administration and ensure the swift deportation of all illegal Bangladeshis, Rohingyas, Pakistani national Seema Haider, and former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” Sahni stated. He further alleged that the number of illegal Rohingyas in Jammu and Kashmir had surpassed official estimates, making the situation even more dangerous.
Shiv Sena (UBT) also questioned the Indian government’s decision to allow Sheikh Hasina to stay in India. The party accused Hasina’s government of failing to protect Hindus in Bangladesh and claimed that attacks on the Hindu community continue even after the recent political changes there.
“While India provides shelter to Sheikh Hasina, Hindus in Bangladesh are constantly being attacked. Even idols of Goddess Saraswati are being desecrated. The government must take action and expel all illegal Bangladeshis,” Sahni said.
The protest also referenced Seema Haider, a Pakistani woman who illegally entered India with her children. Sahni criticized the government for allowing her to stay and even build a new life in the country.
Sahni’s demands come shortly after the controversial deportation of 104 Indian immigrants from the United States. Earlier this week, a U.S. military aircraft carrying the deportees landed in Amritsar. Reports suggested that they were restrained throughout the flight, sparking outrage in India. Many opposition leaders criticized the government for failing to ensure their dignified return.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar later clarified that the use of restraints was a standard procedure followed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) since 2012.
With the debate on illegal immigration heating up, Shiv Sena (UBT) is pressuring the Indian government to take a more hardline approach. The party’s demands for “Trump-style” deportations reflect a growing sentiment in political circles for stricter immigration control. Whether the Indian government will respond to these demands remains uncertain, but the issue of illegal immigration is now at the center of political discussions.
