The incident, which occurred on October 7, 2013, involved a heinous act against a physically and mentally challenged 10-year-old girl in the Nageshwari Tea Garden area of Meteli.
On that fateful day, Pulikar Kharia and Tulmani Praja, residents of Nageshwari Tea Garden, were returning home after collecting their weekly wages when they heard distressing cries emanating from a nearby location. Concerned about the source of the sounds, they followed the noise and discovered Bahul Kalindi attempting to sexually assault Bijay Kalindi’s daughter behind a bush in the tea garden. Upon realizing they had been discovered, the accused fled the scene, leaving the vulnerable child behind.
Acting swiftly and selflessly, Pulikar Kharia and Tulmani Praja rescued the minor, ensuring her safety. Bijay Kalindi promptly reported the incident to the Meteli Police Station, prompting an immediate response.
