New Delhi, October 22 :

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay in Delhi, underscoring the strong bond between India and Bhutan. Modi expressed that Bhutan holds a “special friendship” with India, a relationship built on mutual respect and ongoing cooperation. He expressed optimism that the partnership between the two countries will continue to thrive.

In a post on social media platform X, Modi shared, “Glad to have met you in Delhi this morning, PM Tshering Tobgay. Bhutan is a very special friend of India, and our cooperation will continue to get even better in the times to come.” The sentiment was echoed by PM Tobgay, who referred to Modi as his “friend” and extended gratitude to the people and government of India for their unwavering goodwill and support. “We reaffirmed our commitment to advancing our special bond of friendship from strength to strength,” Tobgay wrote, reflecting on the shared ambitions of both nations.

During his visit, Tobgay also met with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, with the leaders discussing new avenues for regional cooperation. They emphasized deepening the India-Bhutan relationship, particularly in areas aligned with shared regional goals.

In a unique showcase of sustainable development, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri joined Tobgay on a ride in a green hydrogen-powered bus through Delhi. Tobgay noted the experience as a significant step toward sustainable mobility, emphasizing how the hydrogen-powered bus produces water as a byproduct, reinforcing the commitment to eco-friendly advancements.

Puri highlighted India’s plans to expand its green hydrogen initiatives, noting that India intends to play a pivotal role globally in green hydrogen production and technology. He stated, “With projects focusing on hydrogen blending, electrolyzer-based technologies, and bio-pathways, India is poised to become a global champion of green hydrogen, which is crucial to meeting our decarbonization goals.” The minister added that Tobgay’s presence helps amplify India’s green hydrogen story, underlining the collaborative vision for a sustainable future.

This meeting marks a significant step in India-Bhutan relations, reaffirming friendship and collective progress in sustainable energy, which aligns both nations toward a shared vision for the region’s future.
