
India and Bangladesh Strengthen Ties for Regional Stability
Dhaka, January 27, 2025 – India is committed to fostering a strong and stable relationship with Bangladesh, focusing on mutual benefits and regional security, according to Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma. Speaking at a reception in Dhaka on India’s 76th Republic Day, Verma highlighted the deep historical and economic ties between the two nations and stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in various sectors.
Addressing government officials, diplomats, business leaders, and media representatives, Verma emphasized that India and Bangladesh share a long-term vision for regional peace and prosperity.
“As neighbors, our peace, security, and economic progress are interconnected. India is committed to supporting a democratic, stable, and prosperous Bangladesh,” he stated.
Verma also highlighted the cultural and societal bonds between the two countries, which continue to shape their relationship. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to working closely with Bangladesh to achieve shared development goals.
India’s rapid economic growth is creating new opportunities for Bangladesh. Expanding trade and improved connectivity have strengthened business ties, benefiting both countries.
“Trade between our nations is growing, and with better connectivity, our economies are becoming more integrated,” Verma noted.
He also acknowledged the importance of addressing each other’s concerns to maintain a balanced and mutually beneficial partnership.
Verma stressed the need for continued cooperation in tackling global and regional challenges, including climate change and security issues. Both India and Bangladesh play a crucial role in ensuring stability in the Bay of Bengal region.
“Our collaboration in addressing climate change and environmental sustainability is vital. Working together, we can build a more secure future,” he stated.
Bangladesh’s Planning and Education Adviser, Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud, reaffirmed Dhaka’s dedication to strengthening ties with India.
“Bangladesh values its partnership with India and remains committed to fostering cooperation based on mutual respect,” Mahmud said.
Several prominent figures, including political leaders, senior officials, and business representatives, attended the event, underscoring the strong bilateral relationship.
